sonia biacchi was born in udine. her already long life is marked by experiences that she has lived with passion: teaching, motherhood, theatre animation, direction of the c.t.r.daughter of a painter, she strongly feels the urge to dedicate herself to artistic activities. she has approached theatre almost by chance, without any specific preparation. she moves by instinct, yet guided by the inexhaustible curiosity that leads her towards knowledge, primarily the knowledge of contemporary art and the various forms in which it is expressed. her constant activity on the field is accompanied by an attentive study of 20-century artistic avant-gardes.

from 1973 to 1982 she directed a group of animation along with social workers, dancers, musicians, pedagogists, teachers. it is worth remembering, in 1973, the setting up of a "fantasy park" within the premises of the savorgnan manfrin palace in cannareggio (venice), that managed to entertain for a whole year a large number of children from the borough with didactic games. the group runs an intense activity of diffusion for theatre animation in schools of all levels, in psychiatric hospitals, parties and regional, as well as town, festivals. in 1982 she founded the c.t.r. (=t.c.r., theatre centre of research), marked as a “theatre of image or figure", whose goal is the teaching in the fields of theatre, production and distribution of shows. it is the passion of sonia biacchi for objects and forms, along with her constant expressive research revolving around the concept of image, that makes it possible to realise theatrical performances of international fame. the desire to create a …"immaginifica" and stunning form of poetry that does not utilise either words or "tales to narrate" but that originates from forms in movement on the scene, perfectly synchronised with the spatial, musical and temporal rhythm as well as the moving bodies of the dancers, has been the main characteristic of all her productions for over twenty-three years.
to those who ask her what artistic forms and what masters have affected her formation, sonia biacchi replies: “oskar schlemmer, alberto viani, alexander calder, santiago calatrava, oriental culture in its various forms… but the process by which one acquires his own style is so complex and mysterious that i consider it to be beyond description. as long as we keep looking with lively attention at all the stimuli that are constantly under our own eyes, our formation will never end and its roots cannot be disentangled".
